What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

Pardee Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with a couple of the most common A/C problems in Charleston.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioning system working but there isn’t cool air coming out, you might need to have your refrigerant levels checked. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air blowing from your air conditioning system is actually cool. Call Pardee Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning and we’ll come out and review your refrigerant levels and look into why your air conditioner is not producing cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

A reason your condenser fan may not be rotating could be that it simply burned out and you require a replacement. Humidity could cause more condensation so a second problem to watch for is that the water is not draining properly or that the drain is restricted. If you can verify these things, you may be able to find the issue; if not, give Pardee Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call and we can investigate what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and review your options to get your system cooling again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try decreasing the temperature on your thermostat. It seems simple but sometimes we neglect the obvious. If that doesn’t get your A/C cooling, check the air filter. If the air filter is blocked, it could cause major cooling troubles. Another problem that could cause your lack of cooling is that your AC equipment is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a frequent issue when homes are constructed. Pardee Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning will come out and do an analysis to determine if the size of your system is causing your problems.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your air conditioner is short cycling, or turning on or off constantly, it could mean one of multiple things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and needs cleaning. Once the unit is cleaned and all blockages removed, you may be back in business. Note that humidity also plays a part so if your home cools to the right temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to warm back up, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because the system is having to work harder to keep your home cool.
