What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Pardee Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Charleston always writes about how our technicians are NATE-certified, and while it sounds comforting, what does it actually mean?

NATE is an abbreviation for North American Technician Excellence and, according to their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not everyone in the industry is required to be certified through NATE. The certification is optional and technicians can work in the heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration industry without being certified by NATE.

It’s important to Pardee Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning that our technicians are NATE-certified to be sure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these criteria, the NATE-certification assessments validate real-world working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems for technicians. The exams are knowledge-based tests that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards.

Since Pardee Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification and not refrigeration, there are only certain areas applicable to our technicians. NATE test candidates may receive installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:
