Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite

February 23, 2017

We are getting through the last few weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cold nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than turning in at night just to realize your furnace won’t turn on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a few things you can check yourself before your call Pardee Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should change standard air filters every 30 days. If you don’t, they can become clogged, obstructing air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.

Check Your Thermostat

See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem ridiculous, but confirm the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently switched to the “Off” position.

If you inspect all these things and your furnace will still not turn on, give Pardee Service Experts a call at 843-410-6103 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
